The evolution of leadership

Perfectly aligned with our approach to leadership and leadership development, is this article from the Toronto Star about Susan Scott's new book, Fierce Leadership.

Scott's progressive thinking breaks the concept of leadership out of the shackles that bound it to a particular level or title within an organizational hierarchy. Personal connections, authenticity and courage in the workplace are hallmarks of the new wave of leadership.

Funny Commercial... but is it really so unreasonable?

Is this approach to Management all that unreasonable? When will an organization have the courage to flex its approach to managing time and people to reflect the intrinsic differences in their generations of employees? I suppose one might wonder if that would even constitute a demonstration of courage.

In most workplaces, this satirical version of an employee talking to his supervisor would quickly be followed by a phone call to the HR Manager and end shortly after with a letter if dismissal.

How far away are we from accepting the, "I-got-all-my-work-done-didn't-I?" argument defending poor attendance?

I'm inclined to think we still have a way to go.
